EVOLUTION

In this series deconstruction is used as a process to create evolution of a form. The same marble resin form as in the series Take Two is covered in calico and soaked in jesmonite. It is then deconstructed to reveal the marble resin inner  surface. Bronze is added using the cold casting process. When the deconstructed units are combined together the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts producing an organic almost coral like structure as an evolutionary process.

The same form is used again this time the mould is covered in hessian and jesmonite and turmeric. When de- moulded  the forms are crushed and crumpled as a way of deconstruction. They are then combined into a sculpture that can be suspended and has an organic feel. The texture of the hessian is high-lighted by the turmeric staining and can be clearly seen.

The de- construction process is changed again together with the materials used. This time an old purple sheet is used to cover the form which has been made out of polystyrene balls red acrylic paint mixed with jesmonite to bind it. The purple sheets are also soaked in jesmonite revealing the underlying polystyrene balls and  a spotted surface. The forms are then deliberately deconstructed with a jigsaw cutting out angular shapes which are then rearranged to create a different form altogether. Although the original form can still just be seen it has evolved into something completely different through repetition of process.

The new purple form is repeated but never the same. They are combined to produce the body of work below of sculptures and installations.
